Uganda President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has dismissed a petition filed by Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine challenging his victory in the Thursday, January 14, election.
in an interview on NBS, the head of state’s legal team led by Jet Tumwebaze said the petition was shallow and empty that any judge would dismiss it with a wide smile.
“We were served and have had an opportunity to read through the petition and I can tell you for certain, it is shallow as a porthole, short on content and empty of substance, it is one of those petitions that is so much waste of paper,” said Tumwebaze as quoted by Amani.Jet said that his team was prepared for a legal showdown only to be served with an ’empty’ petition which he claimed was the weakest they have ever encountered.
He, therefore, accused the National Unity Platform of having no evidence in their petition.
The 38-year-old in the petition claimed the presidential poll did not adhere to Ugandan law.
He accused Museveni of perpetuating election violence using the police, allowing the army to participate in election crimes and made reckless and derogatory comments about him which discouraged voters.
He also accused the attorney general (AG) of failing to observe the Supreme Court’s orders to implement election laws, and switching of internet and mobile phones belonging to NUP agents.
