CAF Has Luled Out Ahmed Ahmad For The Next Presidential Elections

The football governing body of Africa, Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the out going President Ahmed Ahmad is ineligible to stand for the second term in this year’s CAF Presidential Elections scheduled on March 12, 2021 in Morocco.

The CAF governance committee met on 5th and 6th January and was Chaired by Michel Brizoua- Bi from Ivory coast.The Committee consists of professional lawyers from across the African Continent.

Ahmed Ahmad had shown interest for the second term in office after talking over from longest serving CAF President Issa Hayatou in 2017.

FIFA baned Ahmad for period of 5 years because he was found guilty of miss Using football money to finance a Umrah pilgrim to Mecca and was also fined a $200,000 by the world Football governing body last year.

The committee also ruled out the request from Mamelodi Sundown’s President Thlopane Motsepe of South Africa and Ahmed Yaya of Mauritania have been deemed ‘dismisible’ and they will have to wait for the final committee assessment on January 28, 2021.

The committee went ahead to confirm two CAF Presidential Candidates Jacques Benard Daniel Anouma from Ivory coast and Augustine Emmanuel Senghou from Senegal as the only eligible candidates for the presidential seat in the next Elections.
