Bobi Wine’s latest move
Bobi has hired the legal services of Muhammad Mbabazi, the lead counsel in the 2016 presidential petition filed by former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi. Mbabazi joining Bobi Wine legal team has first amended Bobi Wine’s entire petition as he did in the 2016 petition of Amama Mbabazi. One of the grounds added in Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Petition states that Museveni was not qualified to stand in the 2021 general elections.
In the 2016 petition, when Amama hired Lawyer Mbabazi, he first asked for leave of Court and an amendment of the petition which the Supreme Court panel led by former Chief Justice Bart Magunda Katureebe accepted.
Of recently also President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has broken the silence over plans to challenge his presidential victory by the National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, Museveni wants the supreme court to dismiss the petitions file by NUP with immediate effect and NUP to be held responsible of any costs that should be involved.
NTV Uganda confirmed the move taken by NRM after the latter took to the limelight to assert that they won the election legally and with adherence to all the requirements rolled out by the Electoral commission.
Museveni could suffer a blow should the Supreme Court rule in favour of Bobi Wine.
