Is KCCA Behind The Negligence In Kampala Building Collapse

Kampala City Council authority ( KCCA ) has been accused of being negligence that saw a building under construction collapsing killing one person and leaving others injured.

According to a one eyewitness by the names of John Paul Kubana the sales director of Murwana J. Peter stores Ltd dealing in animal feeds and neighbors the collapsed building said that they had earlier reported to KCCA  planning department of the ongoing illegal excavations before construction by the developer a matter KCCA played a deaf ear too .

Kubana further said that the developer started doing excavations and were entering into our plot in an illegal way and putting our stores at risk.

He further said that the excavations went deep into the underground beneath their stores putting their premises at risk.

Kubana added that they are soon seeking legal redress from the courts of law citing malicious damage by the owner of the building but also negligence by the KCCA .

“ There were absolute negligence by KCCA for having allowed construction and excavation at a building to continue and later kill people of which such work needed daily supervision from KCCA engineers but this never took place .”

According to the Kampala City Council Authority deputy executive director Eng David Luyimbazi said the construction works at the building that collapsed had been stopped.
