Liverpool Wants To Sign Arsenal’s Defender

Liverpool are interested in signing Arsenal central defender Shkodran Mustafi before the January transfer window closes next week.

The defending Premier League champions are reportedly on the hunt for a new centre-back due to their current injury problems at the back.

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are long-term injury problems, with Joel Matip also missing from time to time. Fabinho and even Jordan Henderson have been playing in central defence recently.

Liverpool’s interest in 28-year-old Germany international central defender Mustafi.

One name which was not so instantly dismissed was Arsenal’s German centre-back Shkodran Mustafi, who is out of contract at The Emirates this summer and whose club might release him early.

Mustafi is not seen as a major player at Arsenal. After all, the German has played just 45 minutes in the Pre mier League so far this season.

The Premier League champions have recently been linked with a loan move for New York Red Bulls   defender Aaron Long, who is available due to the MLS season being suspended until at least April

However, Mustafi is very experienced, and he would be a good option to have for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp for the next few months.
