Serie A side, football club Fiorentina has appointed Ivan Genarro Gattuso as the new club manager taking responsibilities from 1st July, 2021.
All this happens after the Violets suffered a shock in March when their coach, Cesare Prandelli resigned and was replaced by Giuseppe Lachini who has not been continued with services.
Gattuso, a 43-year-old Italian appeared in the right time when the club was searching for a suitable coach to take over the duties next season, and yet he has been free after being sacked by Napoli just two days ago.
“I’m very happy to be able to announce to the Viola fans that Gennaro Gattuso will be the next Fiorentina coach.” said Club President, Rocco Commisso.
“I’m convinced that Gattuso who is young coach but already has lots of experience will helps us to progress.” Commisso added.
He continued to thank the Club’s technical management prior to the appointment deal in relation to the Club’s interests.
“I would like to thank the senior management team for their handwork in completing such an important appointment for the future of our club within days of the season finishing.” He noted.
Gattuso played a successful career at club level with AC Milan and won numerously as he also witnessed the glory of the Azurri (Italian Football Team) lifting the 2006 World Cup Trophy as a player who had an outstanding impact.
He entered coaching in 2013, debuting at Sion where he later joined Palermo among others. In 2017, Gattuso joined AC Milan and won nothing leaving the team in the fifth position in 2019 campaign.
In 2019/20 season, he won the Coppa Italia Trophy with Napoli but unfortunately things became worse for him in the way thus leading the team in a fifth position at the end of last season.
Associazione Calcio Firenze Fiorentina finished in 13th place in serie A last season and therefore, Gattuso is expected to bring determination, competence and desire to the club through his special tactics and professionalism since he has experienced enough from his coaching background.
