Police commanders in light over illegal land grabbing

A man by the name of Katende Micheal has accused the police land department of frustrating his efforts to regain his piece of land that he says was taken by land grabbers.

Sources claim that Michael Katende a Ugandan who studied and resides in the USA purchased a piece of land measuring 2 acres from mzee John Katende for shs. 90 million at Burkabira Ssisa sub county in Entebbe wakiso district.

Earlier the land been mortgaged in Equity-bank by mzee John Katende and asked me to help him pay off the remaining balance of shs 4 million that the bank so he could get back the time which the bank received and provided a mortgage release letter and the tittle.

Previously Mzee Katende says on the land were 2 people who were using the land carrying out agriculture and these were compensated and finally vacated before the land was fenced off and finally Katende returned to the US after appointing a care taker of his property.

However drama begun before covid pandemic as Katende received reports that there was a group of people who were claiming ownership and consequently encroached on it and vanished away with materials worthy 32 millions after putting down the fence.

However we reported the case to the Kajjansi police and recovered some of the items from the houses of the grabbers though they weren’t arrested since they had connections from top police commanders.

Katende further wrote to the then RDC of Entebbe Haji Noor Njuki mbabali to help intervene in the matter and later a meeting was held  at the Kampala metropolitan south regional head quarters at Katwe but unfortunately the land grabbers failed to show up.

However it was discovered that the four land grabbers didn’t have any documented papers of true ownership of the contested land which prompted the RDC to issue a strong warning to the grabbers to back off the land and tasked the police to enforce the same.

During the pandemic these grabbers were given a way forward to encroach on the land using the vaccine created by he imposition on the lockdown said Katende.

However despite all the efforts Katende was frustrated since all the matter didn’t Work according which made him to write to the state house anti corruption unit for intervention in the matter.

The land grabbers for the first time arraigned in court in Entebbe and later released on bail.

Despite there being released on bail they resumed their operations with the help of Charles Kyagaba who was recently arrested.

The Kampala metropolitan deputy police when contacted for any comment said “ he wasn’t well versed with the particulars of the allegations.”
