Police are hunting a group of unidentified thugs in Uganda after breaking into the native home of an army general and stole a tractor from the home.

General Andrew Gutti Home raided

General Court Martial Chairperson Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti’s home was raided by the robbers who drove off with a Massey Ferguson tractor.

The said thugs broke into the home on Wednesday, March 31, at around 12am, shocking neighbours who feared to take on them. The incident happened at Iriiri Village in Iriiri Sub County, found in Napak District, North-Eastern Uganda.

However, the thugs are said to have abandoned the tractor in a nearby forest when it ran out of fuel. The police insisted they will still run after them to see to it that they are charged.

“We are looking for them and they will be charged with theft and trespass,” said Michael Longole, South Karamoja Assistant Police Inspector.

According to Gutti’s neighbours, this was the second time that thugs raid his home. A week ago, Gutti’s Orange firm got torched by robbers who, to date, are yet to be traced.

Residents in the village suspect that the constant raids could be a malicious target by the army man’s enemies.

“I don’t know whether it was a deliberate move or it was burnt by a group of youth who were hunting for rats,” Bosco Angela, a resident in Iriiri village.

Residents had also suspected that the thugs could have blended into a group of youths hunting for rats.

The area is said to be invaded by rats whenever the hot season kicks in.
