Tanzanian lawmakers have been told to avoid red ties ahead of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s visit to the parliament.
The President is today evening expected to address the National Assembly House, and ahead of her visit, the Speaker of the house Job Ndugai has urged MPs not to wear red ties.
The Speaker has said lawmakers who will show up at the Parliament in red ties will not be allowed into the house.
Why the Speaker has banned red ties
According to media sources from Tanzania, Speaker Ndugai has said the red colour is a symbol of authority and remained with the leader of the country, President Samia
Today’s address to parliamentarians by President Samia will be the first one since she was sworn in after the death of her predecessor, John Pombe Magufuli.`
President Samia has so far made several changes in the government, including reshuffling the Cabinet that Magufuli left behind.
