The two presidents yesterday held several conversations that included the main agenda of the day, that is oil transportation between Uganda and Tanzania.
Uganda and Tanzania through the two heads of states reached an agreement and signed East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Tripartite Project agreement.
The deal will see exchange of refinery and pipeline oil from Uganda to Tanzania, unlike the exportation of crude oil only that existed before.
Daily Monitor used a cartoon to pass a powerful message about the deal, particularly Museveni.
In monitor toons section, Museveni and Suluhu are seen cheering with a black liquid on their cups. The black substance in the cup is the oil.
The independent Ugandan based newspaper captioned that the oil belongs to Museveni and not Uganda.
“Take this, this is my oil, which has…” says Museveni in the cartoon editorial.
Suluhu responds, “Cheers on behalf of Tanzanians, we’re grateful.”
It mocks Museveni for individualizing while it shows Samia as a leader who represents her people.
Ugandans reacted by saying that the editorial cartoon was on point. They however warned the paper that Museveni can sue them because of mocking him.
He's taking all the country's resources for himself. Only representing the country wen acquiring loans from other countries
