CAF Opens Up Bids For Hosts Of Champions League And Confederation Cup Finals

Africa’s Football Governing body Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially opened the bidding process for the host city and country of the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup finals.

This will be the second consecutive year where the winner of the inter club competitions is decided through a single game final.

Last year’s CAF Champions League final was hosted by the city of Cairo in Egypt at the Cairo International Stadium where Al Ahly emerged as winners after overcoming their rivals Zamalek.

The final was originally to be played at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon. However, Cameroon withdrew from hosting the final following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Cameroon had been selected to host the 2019 Champions League final ahead of Morocco and Tunisia.

Meanwhile, the 2019/2020 CAF Confederation Cup final was hosted by the city of Rabat in Morocco. RS Berkane won the competition after winning 1-0 against Pyramids at Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Stadium.

Morocco was the only nation who submitted bids to host the Confederation Cup final.
