Uganda Top 5 Music Albums in 2021

It has been an eventful 2021 for Ugandan artists as they solidified their fan base with new albums and EPs. The new releases came with a lot of talent giving hope for a better tomorrow for Ugandan artists. Below are top 5 albums and EPs released by Ugandan artists in 2021:

African Music – Azawi
‘African Music’ album is heavily inspired by different African rhythms and sounds. Azawi says the album is a collection of her life experiences and journey to where she is now.  ‘African Music’ is one of the most played albums in Uganda with every song having it’s on mileage. Songs like ‘Slow Dancing’, ‘My Year’, ‘Party Mood’ and ‘Majje’ among others have gained fans’ attention.

Made In Africa – Eddy Kenzo
Eddy Kenzo dropped this masterpiece on April 29, 2021. Barely a week after the official release, the album was featured on the famous New York’s Times Square Billboard. ‘Made in Africa’ is a compilation of songs by artists around the world. The collaborations with were well selected, giving the album a chance to compete on an international level. Songs like ‘Weekend’, have won him awards.

Kirabo – Ykee Benda

‘Kirabo’ (loosely translated from Luganda to mean ‘Gift’) is an appreciation to fans who have supported Ykee Benda for the last five years that he has been in the music industry. The 18-track album dropped on the 7th of August and was uploaded on the Mpaka Records website for UGX. 35000. Within a few days of its release, 500 people had bought the album totaling to approximately 17.5 M.

Infinity – Nsimbi Music
‘Nsimbi Music’ (Ugandan rapper GNL Zamba, together with American world fusion artist and wife, Miriam Tamar) unveiled ‘Infinty’; a project full of infusions from indigenous instruments and acoustic African sounds with urban and contemporary elements of Luga flow.

‘Mbaga’ was the first song to drop off the E.P and it has enjoyed massive airplay both locally and at an international level with over a million streams across all digital platforms. Other tracks in the EP include ‘Infinity’, ‘Rainfall’, ‘Essubi’ and ‘Timeless’. All the songs were produced by Kusseim and recorded at his African Bureau of Music studio.

I Am Chozen – Chozen Blood
The album has 15 songs and features several artists that include; Fik Fameica, Wase Sylvia, John Blaq and Zex Bilangilangi. The producers that put together this masterpiece include Bomba Music, Nessim Pan Production, Zulitums and Artin Pro.

His viral song ‘Sharp Shooter’ is one of the amazing tunes on the album. Chozen Blood says the song has earned him a huge mileage and put his career on the map.
