Yunus Sentamu Rejoins Vipers

Vipers SC have  confirmed the signing of forward Yunus Sentamu “Manucho”.

Sentamu returns at the club since his departure in 2014 and has signed a two-year contract.

The forward has been out of action since leaving Albania’s side KF Tirana in  2019.

Sentamu  has said that “Everyone knows the special relationship l have with this club and it has always felt like home to me. My desire to win is still the same and l look forward to the opportunity to help the team achieve. I am excited for this next chapter of my career.”

Vipers head coach Fred Kajoba  has said that “l know Sentamu’s personality very well and l know he will add alot of value and fire power upfront.”

In 2011, Sentamu was St Juliana’s top-scorer in the post-primary qualifiers with 13 goals. They were knocked out by St Mary’s SS Kitende at the quarter-finals.

His exploits didn’t go unnoticed. St Mary’s SS Kitende snapped him up immediately and during the qualifiers for the 2013 Copa Coca-Cola, he scored 24 goals. At the real Copa Coca-Cola tournament in Kabale, he scored 16 goals, two short of the top-scorer.

He helped St Mary’s SS Kitende win the cup and later during the East Africa secondary school games in Lira, he scored six goals in five games to lead Kitende to another cup

The 26 years, will  put on shirt number 12  at Vipers as he seeks to help the club defend league title which they won last season.

He is remembered for his heroic performances at the 2014 CHAN tournament where he scored three goals for the Uganda Cranes.

Sentamu made his name over one season at Vipers scoring six goals in 13 games before moving to Congolese side AS Vita in 2014.

Sentamu has previously played at AS Vita in Congo, CS Sfaxien in Tunisia, Ilves of Finland and Albania first division side KF Tirana. He also featured for Bulemeezi Ssaza team, helping them to win their first Masaza Cup in 2012 .

Sentamu was also part of the National Team at the 2017 Continental showpiece in Gabon.
